Hurricane Gustav Aftermath

My Louisiana children survived another hurricane. Jamey and the football team evacuated north to Shreveport. The stayed in a gym at a local high school. A hundred boys in a gym, sounds like fun! Throw in a couple of footballs and some basketballs, and it is an all night party! I am glad I was not the coach. Katie and Drew went about a hour north from Layfayette to Pineville, which is where Jamey evacuated from. They stayed with their friends Andria and Matt. Monday night the storm moved up to Pineville. They lost their electricity and were under a tornado warning. A tree fell on the power lines and landed on the neighbor house and it briefly caught fire. I was texting her to go to the center of the house. I was watching the storm tracking on my laptop and the tornado was right over them. I was scared. Katie and Drew went back to Lafayette this evening and their apartment was dry. I was really concerned it had flooded. They got water in the apartment after a hard rain earlier this year. They even have electricity at their house. They are very fortunate there because most of the rest of town does not have power.

It looks like the storms are lining up to make their best run at our coastlines. I love the ocean but I could not live anywhere along the shore after these past few years of hurricanes. I am thankful for the safety of my family and pray for the recovery of those who have suffered damage.
